Forellenschluss
It was my very first time consuming lettuce. The subject was covered in my article on this romaine heritage type in my publication The Allotment Keeper's Handbook way back in 2022. It's extremely tough and durable and stunning too and has red speckles, as the name implies (refers to the speckles that appear on the back of a trout). I purchased my seedlings from the . If you are a fan of speckled lettuce, then you must also consider
missouri plant identification.
Yes I'm an avid fan of a bizarrely named lettuce. I saw the name "Ear of the Devil' on the list of seeds of Brown Envelope Seeds in Ireland I was enthralled by the vibrant red color of the pointed leaves. It is very productive in pots for me, and it didn't appear to be appealing to slugs either. Unfortunately, I'm not able to locate an actual UK source of seeds of this lettuce . It is not available at Brown Envelope as I type however it is accessible from the Adaptive Seeds in the US.
I first came across Franchi Seeds when I purchased one of their "Misticanza Mix" cut-and-come-again salads from an Italian food store in Clerkenwell close to the former Guardian offices. The great aspect of this seed company is that each package is enormous offering enough lettuce for an entire ration of salad. It's my favorite lettuce mix. It's an amazing selection of shapes and colors and extremely reliable. Franchi are now selling the mix in spring and summer-sown mix as well as an autumn-sown mix that is more efficient. Another mix of lettuce worth a look can be found in, which always provides something unique.
